Hi there,
I am currently completing my undergrad in film production at York University. As I am sure that many will agree, I love fishing. I love fishing in all forms and in all ways. I started heavily getting into fishing a couple of years ago and I am still currently learning the ropes. I live in Toronto now and as the ice is melting, I am going to try and get out as much as I can and try for as many species as possible. As of now, I've had the most success with bass, carp, catfish and panfish, but I want to start learning how to consistently catching other species mostly pike and steelhead. A problem for me is that I am limited in my locations as I do not own a car and am mostly limited to public transport. So what I really would like to know is about the good areas around Toronto that would accessible with public transit and any tips that you can give me about fishing there.
I know of one river that is accessible by public transit and plan on hitting it this week to get a chance at steelhead. I have a 9-weight glass rods that I will use and to the end of it, I plan on trying an olive rabbit strip cone fly and a black wooly bugger dropper. Would this be my best combo for April steelies? And are there other places where I might have success?
I welcome recommendations on any urban fishery, no matter what kind. I know that the mouth of the above alluded river holds good carp and I will try there. As well, there is a park near York University that should have decent carp as well. Any other places or any hints about where I should start looking?
Thanks in advance,
Catfish
