Hey guys,

I've been fishing for a few years now, mostly targeting bass & pike. I'm a huge fan of bass fishing because I love the fight. I have a few different rods/reels, and I'm debating buying a bait casting set up. I'd love to learn how to use a bait caster, but I also just bought a fly rod so maybe I better just learn that first, eh?

I'm hoping to start getting into trout a bit more, I'm not super familiar with where in the Hamilton area I'd do that but I've tried a couple spots so far that I'm thinking should be good, I'll just have to put some more work into it.

Anyways, I just figured I'd say hi. Hopefully I'll learn a thing or two and maybe I'll be able to contribute a hint or a picture or two of a nice catch at some point.

Welcome to the forum. I would say go with the fly rod ;-).

There is a lot of information here. It is also a great place to meet people. The fly fishing section has pages upon pages of information. Start reading!

Welcome:)

Thanks guys! I'll definitely be reading the fly fishing section a lot. I actually just found out I missed the Grand River Spey Clave, too bad I didn't join the forum a few weeks ago, haha.

If you want to hang out with fly fishers and learn more at the same time, I suggest stopping at a meeting of Hamilton & Area Fly Fishers and Fly Tyers.
There are a few new fly fisher over your way and I think the best way to advance in skills is to get together and learn together. Improvement will be faster that way for sure.

Welcome, got to have a good arm for fly fishing. I know a spot called bronte harbour, I have seen people catching 2 foot browns there, wonder if thats near you? Tell me if you want to know more. I think that the location is somewhere next/near or in hamilton. If you do go use good catch and relase skills, and leave one for me!
