Hi everyone! I have been casually for years, but have started fishing more seriously this summer. After reading over lots of the old posts, I decided that joining would be a great way to up my fishing chops! I fish for pretty much anything when it's in season (mostly smallies this year) and I'm hoping to catch lots more fish this summer!

Welcome
Learn to fish carp and you will have fun and be happy. The Grand through Cambridge has lots of hard fighting carp.

Welcome to the forum. Glad you took the plunge. How big are the smallies down there? I've only managed 2lb'ers in the Kawarthas.

Well, I don't have a scale, and I'm terrible at estimating, but the biggest I've caught was probably around 3lbs, but there must be a few bigger. I've caught a tonne there though. The best I've done was around 20 over the span of a couple hours one Saturday afternoon using a 3" shallow crank. Almost all guppies, but 2 or 3 nice ones. I'm not about to give away my secret spot, but if you were to canoe nice and slow from Cambridge to Paris, you'd surely pass through it and probably find a couple other nice spots too!
