Hey guys,

Me and my grandparents are going to head out to niagara to do some bass fishing.
Was wondering if the bass are still in close to shore at this time since we shore fish.

I was thinking about Queenston Docks as our place to fish as they are old and can't hike very well.
Are there any other spots along the niagara that have good fishing?

You guys can PM me if you like. My grandparents haven't fished in years and this will probably be the first and last time for them D=

Any help is appreciated ^^

The niagara river shore line is not easy access other than queenston and the mouth as far as I know ..Most of the lower section below queenston is private property

Queenston is the Best for your grandparents. Lots of snags....be ready ... you can use little rocks as weight If you run out ... wrap around on net.

Bottom bounce at the small dock at fort George. Be early to take your spot. Caught huge pike using sinking plugs there but bass seems t hug bottom so bottom bounce leech or worms.

This is off topic but does anyone know if catfish are still around in Welland and the grand river?
Just so we have some options available to us.
I'd prefer they just sit and relax instead of standing for the whole day of fishing.

Thanks!

Queenston ramp is more popular for winter trout fishing, hardly heard bass being caught over there. Even tough for boat anglers fishing for bass, hardly any weeds in that area and as deep as 100 ft. However, not too far from that spot where the rapids were created and only accessible by boat, lots of bass.

Try upper river near the peace bridge close to Bertie's boat launch and then beside the CN rail bridge just not too far from there, google it! FRee parking! These are famous spot for bass or even walleye shore fishing, but normally better during spring and late fall. I fished the river on boat often, and summer is a tough month to do well since the upper river is mostly SM bass, the species of bass needs cooler temp. Normally fishing the US side is way better, due to better vegetation. A friend was just fishing on a boat today at the upper, and got skunk, it was also too of a sunny bright day which seldom produce for me either, water is way too clear at the upper river. AN overcast or dawn and dusk are the best time to fish.

Due to the tougher Hike, whirlpool is famous for every species of fish. There are SM bass there for sure, just snaggeable and not to easy to fish with moving current.

Your Lure has to get close to the bottom and hope to not get snag. Fish at the bottom do not have to fight the moving current as much . I used mostly 1/2 -3/4 oz weight or else the current will just drive the lure on the surface, which is useless fishing in general

Port delhousie has bass as well. With water being in the 70's, hard to catch anything on most waters IMO, so the current with high oxygen content on rivers keep the fish somewhat active . Some Salmon should be there by now. Brown trouts can be caught at night to some persistant anglers.

Hey guys!

Update on the day!

We caught lots of gobies lmao and my grandpa caught a random carp. I had a good fight with a bass before he went into a floating pile of weeds and then I lost him.

Other than that the weather was nice =]
