Start by reading the thread centerpin/float fishing info from the Fishing Gear Talk and DYI corner.

Start off by getting yourself some pink worms ;-) you can look up on youtube how to rig them. Thread them through and use a good quality hook, then sharpen it yourself after. Use a 6lb leader and set your float depth deep. Walk around the whirlpool and find a spot where the water is deep, yet calm. There is a few spots like this that hold fish. That should get you going

Many lure or bait works at the whirlpool. As long as you can bring your presentation get down close to the bottom without getting snagged. Here are some lures I had used with success.

1. 3/4 oz Jig heads with black, white or pink grub
2. Heavy small spoon
3. Crank baits, Rattler.
3. Streamers
4. Spinners
5, Roe. Power Minnow. Live minnow
6. mini bucktails.
6. Kwikfish

If the water is too clear, 6+ ft visibility, it is tougher to fish it. Normally best from twilight till 10am in the morning.

Slow down one's presentaiton , the slower the better.
