Do you hear how you sound right now? You're complaining about how the internet has ruined fishing, on a fishing website located on the internet. You know I love you right? But cmon guys.
I don't post specifics for a reason, however most of the damage has been done already. All I ask is that anglers think before they post for the public to see, because you may just find people at your "secret" spot the next time you go. Learn from other's mistakes. I don't see this particular thread as much of a threat to anything. Videos and pics of lesser known areas cause problems imo, and will only add to the traffic at any spot.

I hear ya bud, and I understand. I just didn't consider this to be a secret by any means. If it was an Algonquin lake, or like a Notty hole, or specific, obvi I keep it a little more hush. I'm not stupid.

There has been one spot on the niagara that seen a huge increase in traffic thanks to a video on YouTube. For years I could go by this spot without ever seeing a person. the out of season lakers took a beating this fall by people claiming they were steelheading but they knew what they were doing. they were going down to pound numbers and maybe get the odd steel. Plenty of photos on instagram and even on this board.

How do you target steelhead and minimize catches of lake trout. I assumed they bit the same things as steelhead... ? Serious question btw.

Well I caught (& lost) a lot of rainbows this fall with maybe 5 oos lakers so it is possible. Just comes down to time on the water I guess. The spot I'm referring to for whatever reason, maybe it's a good spawning habitat, attracts the lakers (and the fisherman). Besides people are supposed to be releasing oos fish immediately, not taking hero shots, but people can't help themselves.
