Wanna avoid the crowds and still catch fish?
Well a friend from OFN told me about his experience with night time migratories and says it has deadly consequences (for the fish). This is something you might want to try out. I know I will :). Make sure you bring glow baits, glow jigs, lighted floats and of course a flashlight. cheers

Although I usually don't do any night-drifting for steelhead, I can confirm that this is true, or at least so I've been told by fishing buddies over the years.

8) The following is ILLEGAL and will get you into serious trouble. DO NOT DO THIS . Poaching is the worst thing you can do. :)
When I was a teenager, I had a friend who used to sneak into Streetsville Dam at night (pre-opener) and catch (illegally) boat-loads of steelhead below the fish ladder doing this. He said he would hook a fish literally every drift. Mind you, the fish were no doubt stacked up below the dam, but the point is that he was "drifting at night"... with "deadly consequences for the fish". lol

I thought I'd relay the story, since it (kind of) corroborates the OP's point.

Rapa. Boy,
for a 17 year old (If I read it right in one of your previous post) you have lots of fishing experience! And the best part of it is that you are willing to share; the same appreciation goes to Openfire and Frozenfire. I've never fished for Salmon or steelhead before, and to tell you the truth, I have seen them so far only on pictures...Lol. My biggest fishing experience so far is from Thunder Bay. Since this is Salmon/Steelhead time, I would love to go with one of you guys one night and collect some experience.

Cheers

Dodo

wouldnt mind someone showing me a thing or two for float drifting. 80 percent of my catch are flukes.
