Rice Lake Master
Well seeing as the weather was sweet on Sunday the 22nd of November my buddy Howie and I decided to hit Simcoe for the second time of the year. It was about a month earlier that we last went and we had a great day Perching.
We unfortunately have different game plans when we get togther. I love Bass fishing and he loves Pike fishing so I decided to entertain his thoughts of hooking a pike for a couple of hours so we trolled various cranks at various depths but came up empty.

When he did change rods and lures, it gave me a brief moment to drop shot or throw a tube but needless to say, my SSC - Simcoe Smallie Curse has yet to be lifted as I was skunked by these elusive creatures yet again.
After getting skunked by the Pike also, we decided to do some Perch sight fishing. the Perch are so abundant in Simcoe right now it really is like shooting fish in a barrel. What makes the sight fishing fun is that after your line is in the water, you can tease them and pull your bait closer to the bigger ones and avoid the small ones.
We caught our limit of perch yet again and the perch at this time are getting much bigger. Our last outing did not net us any of these bigger ones but now most of them were in the 11-14 inch range. A tasty dinner in deed. Howie was using the pin minnows and I was using a hollow belly tube and also a drop shot with a slammer and both methods worked effectively and they actually outfished the live bait and mine were also bigger.
