nice to see they made a rod to pair with the DRII, im surprised they are selling it for 100 seeing the high price tag on the reel. You would think the rod/reel would be more closely matched in price. Im not a fan of the DRII reel, I held it in a store and it just didnt feel right. I wouldnt be very confident in the drag system.

Steelies have you fought one with the drag yet?

The guy Said it was. A 269 Rod. Gave it to me for 100 cash
True canadian north. Just opened in small mall as bass pro

Yes Nado, I was able to fight a salmon with and without the drag. It helped when I got tired, I would switch the drag on. It's very smooth and silent. Sort of defeats the purpose of owning a pin though. I'm gonna fish without the drag from now on.

Rusty your rod isn't an Okuma rod its actually made by a company called Sheffield out of Europe. I have a rod made by the same company, you are the first person I have run into that has a Sheffield rod. Seems like its a model up from mine, I have the SHF 1343.

Thank you for the clarification. :)

no problem, I went a lot longer thinking I was fishing an Okuma rod than u did lol.

Im a fan, I can turn slamon and steelhead without issue. Its a bit heavy but maybe yours is lighter. Yours also has more guides than mine, I found it on ebay.

what would be the key things to look for when buying a used pin?

Check if theres any grinding when you spin the reel. Also take a look at the spool while its spinning and make sure there isn't any sort of "wobbling" going on as this would indicate the pin may be bent. Check for any nicks in the palming spool. Deep ones may end up causing you pain when you try to apply drag while a fish is running.
