My vote goes to trout ofcourse, what shore angler wouldnt prefer trout???
Now if we were talking about downrigging on the great lakes it would have to be salmon hands down.
I've always wanted to try downrigging on the great lakes. What kind of minimum gear would you suggest for someone just starting without breaking the wallet. << I know gear isn't cheap but to start out with the least amount of money, while still having reliable / safe gear. I know it's a broad topic but I'm thankful for any good advice from anyone who has solid experience fishing in the great lakes. I'd like the best direction and info on this subject before attempting fishing in those waters myself.
