So I am heading out for my second trip of the season on new years day. I am taking my son who is six and hitting the local river, fishing has been slow but I will report when I get back.

My first trip out I had good luck with the new Northland tackle 'Rippin Shad' in glow perch and sexy shad. I landed 14 walleye/saugers and a single burbot in a couple hrs. I tried spoon and a live target as well but they really seemed to key in on the rippin shad. I think the glow really helped.

Ice fishing on a river already? Are you up in the Northwest Territories or something? lol

Southern MB. It has been a mild winter so far. Fishins slow, we had a front move in. Winds were 40/50 gusting to 70. Had a heck of a time setting up and taking down my 6 man shack, luckily some fishermen close by came to help. I did manage to land a 16" sauger
