It felt like robbing a bank at times. Did a ton of leg work for those so it was no easy walk in the woods. Water was high but good too.

It was a resi brown. I was out with a friend and it was his first time out on a real Steelie chasing outing. It was a real treat for him as he had never seen one in person before. A real good weekend. Pump I know u got some good vids too this weekend....

Sucker roe? How does that usually work? I could use the suckers for fertilizer too !!! Nice zucchini and bell peppers from garden !!
I've never heard of anyone using it, but I figured that since they spawn just about the same time steelies spawn it should theoretically be a viable bait. Unfortunately I wasn't able to prove that theory last time, will try again sometime this week.

sucker spawn are just as good as glo bugs on spring. sucker spawns are part of steels diet. I find that steels tend to be on recovery mode after spawn and after it has recovered are very aggressive. The pattern I use doesn't work all the time but I always go by it. Fall to winter I mostly use, egg pattern, beads and roe. as soon as spring and melt comes in, I go by pinkies, san juans, more egg patterns and beads. the openers, I use more flies just to give them a different look. copper johns, stone flies, nymphs - and I bring in my centerpin gear if I'm out all day.
