All the high water means that there are fewer obstacles in front of the fish. I'll be exploring waaaay upstream
this 100% high water means the fish blow through the open zones and into spawning grounds faster that when in low clear water

Also of note...

be sure to know what is private property and public property. I have a streatch river where I am the only person who has permission to fish their property. I am constantly escourting people off. It ruins my days fishing as well.

Avoiding crowds isn't hard. There's lots of fishable water once the season opens that people don't even think of fishing.

well as of april 12 there were 171 fish over the dam on one of the east tribs........this same time last year there were 5000 fish over. the ground is still frozen 3-5 inches down, theres a lot snow still in the head water areas. just because theres supposedly no rain in the forecast (no one knows for sure) doesn't mean the rivers will be cleared up, melting snow in the headlands will dirty up the water and make them high
lol you think that's bad 4 fish over the dam in Tbury as of yesterday. northern tribs are in flood warning stages. fish are spawning in the bay, we were catching dark spawned out fish on the ice in late march

Ever have people float the stretch?

as long as the water is over a foot deep and over a foot wide, there will likely be fish there, the creek i fish on opener is a mid sized creek, about 20 ams up from the lake, can t even see it on g-maps, it connects to a tiny stream that is half a foot wide and the steelies jam themselves in there and get stuck al the time, every opener, i grab them and put them in the main river, otherwise they just get stuck and die, they will go until they die, literally.
Sounds so much like one of my favourite spots, I'm trying to think if I've ever seen you fishing around there. Is your dad from a small town in that area? I remember meeting a father + son one day a couple years back.

I won't post any details on the spot, it's too good for public sharing, that is for sure!
