I am looking into a new fly rod combo, i ditch the VXP idea. I'm down to the sage vantage or the orvis clearwater. I am looking for a 3 wt rod that is 199-250 or so dollars. I have used the vantage, and it is really light and casts like a dream. i loved it, but have also heard good thing about the orvis. I would get the sage in the 7' #3 4 piece or the clearwater in 7'6" #3 4 piece. The orvis is 50$ cheaper, but i don't care paying the extra for the sage. I want to own the best rod between the two for fishing small streams snd rivers for panfish, resi trout, and small bass.

for a little bit more you can get a loop rod on ebay...lol--right mad? hahah

Can we keep this thread on track here so the new posters on this thread won't get distracted?

Ya no problem the reason I say the sage is when I was showing someone how to cast he was using a clear water and casting some yarn his blank broke about a foot and a half down from the tip I have never seen that before from just casting I'm sure it was a bad blank but it has made me wary of the clear water line and sage has reputation with it that they build the best rods on the market
Although the vantage was discontinued last year or so for the response line I believe there called. I myself use a sage fli 7 foot 3wt it's a great rod

Hopefully I can find a vantage somewhere, it was a really nice rod. I see sail still has it in their catalogue

mad--sage sold out to Costco--only a matter of time that the hardcore trout bums like you will jump ship--come to loop brother there is always a spot for you here..lol--and you too CATFISH-on the other hand that broken rod was replaced faster than rob ford crack video.
