Right on Brazil, nice fish! Did you put her back or keep it? Letting a fish like that go is good fish Karma, but there's enough roe there to last all steelhead season if you're frugal (2-5 eggs a bag, 8-10 pier and coloured water) and catch alot more fish...you're going to catch more anyway, just something to think about when looking at a hen like that...decisions, decisions!

Since it was my first I did take it home... I tried it next day did not like the taste so I threw it in the compost. I did kept the eggs since my next mission is the steelhead. My next question was how many eggs in the bag, but you got that covered. Now back to research on steelhead and some exploring. I was thinking about taking a lesson on steelhead river fishing but they too expensive for just one person. :(

Any body know an affordable place to go?

NO!!!!!!! :D

They make a 3 and a 4 incher..... they inhale the 2, not good, the big boys make a big noise!

I retrieve it like I'm using a rattling plug for Walleye up north, steady but not fast.... only these "Walleye" are 20 lbs + !!!! :D

Thanks for the reply!

yeah guides can be expensive, head to the wilmot any given time, Steelies will be in there with the salmon but as salmon wanes in October and more steelies come in, they are the main game then, do some reading, head out there and try different things, chat some guys up and observe their set ups if you see them catching. It helps if you are fairly close to a trout river that you can fish often. I grew up 10-20 minutes from every point on a nice little river, not a large run but I fished almost every day, every condition, got to know all the guys who fish the river, in some situations you'll be able to see the fish and how they react to the presentation, alot of fishing comes down to just being very attentive to the environment, rivers and the fish themselves and then adapting to those different factors and circumstances

Yah come with all of us on October 13'th to the saugeen, you should have enough knowledge after you leave that you'll be well on your way to conquering any river you come across. Look at the "saugeen trip" topic.
