Looking to find some tips on shore fishing in the Ottawa area.

Heading down there on the 9th of Sept weekend.

Walleye would be the fish of choice but pike/bass are good too  Likely going to be using minnows.

Coming from Toronto.

Any info would be a great help.

Thanks,

Hey cg97. I saw your post and thought maybe I could pick up some info cause I work in Ottawa often. I'm from Hamilton. I hope someone can speak up and tell us something.

Walleye are funny in ottawa i cant seem to put a spot on them iv caught them randomly pretty much everywhere..... well that is in the rideau river, i don't fish the ottawa that much since i don't have a boat and there isn't that many good spots from shore and well the waters really dirty since there's been lots of sewage spills( there working on it)... but as far as the rideau goes well there's allot of little rapids along it and there's always bound to have a few rogue ones in the deeper pools at the bottom of the rapids... witch are kinda hard to find from shore( i canoe allot) wading would definitely give you a huge advantage chek out google maps to find the rapids id name them but there's allot... and well if your catching walleye there's definitely muskie hanging around..hard to catch though so much food for them... hope this helps

It's not the Ottawa River, but check this dam out.

We've pulled out very large smallies fishing off the dam near the rapids (5lbs+) just using works and sinkers. Walley and pike too.
