Steps to Catch Sunnies in Spring:

1) Find a school (look for them around structure, ie: docks, rocks, weeds. They'll be near the surface most likely in 3-8 fow depending on structure and bunched together in schools (a group of fish))

2) Throw anything you have at them, I'd start with a wet fly and if they are hitting that move up to a FLASHY dry if that doesn't work, go to a wet fly but keep it near the surface. Don't worry about spooking them - they're not trout.

3) Vary your retrieve, casting length and depth until you find what the fish are looking for

4) Retrieve the fish

5) Release or keep based on your preference

Remember they are SUNFISH (ie easy to catch)

For a guy to doesn't want to share info, you sure like to accept it and demand it in great detail...

Sharing locations and how to catch a sunfish are a galaxy apart noob. And i am sorry if you feel the pressure of having yo tell me how to catch sunfish. God speed on your recovery. And thanks for the info

Hmm, so let me get this right. Your position is not sharing because ecosystems will be raped and destroyed not to mention fish stock depletion. Teaching people how to catch fish, will result into more people fishing there for more people keeping fish and the same result. Seems hypocritical, no?

I mean they're sunfish, if you can't catch a sunfish, why are you fishing for trout? Start crawling before you run.

If it was new member who was polite, clicked thanks, wanted to learn, was not arrogant or made personal jabs (again against the rules? Do you even read the dam things?) I'd tell him/her a lot more.

Good luck, cause I for one am never responding to another one of your questions.

Amen Leaky!

cmon buddy you arent seriously asking for help to catch a sunfish? part of fishing is figuring stuff out for yourself, not being spoon fed patterns for sunfish.
What's up with that!

if you need a guide for sunnys, i think my two year old has some openings
lol, I gladly charge you 800 for half a day and teach you the art to sunfishing, they call me the sunfish guru.

P.S - Maybe the master can teach me?? :D

noob you charge too much. going rate for an hour of sunfishing is a popsicle and some apple juice
Hey, gotta make room for haggling. :D

No crackers and cheese? Man my childhood was filled with string cheese! :D

You guys are funny and also suck.

Patterns for panfish? Give me drugs.

A hook. Bread.

Expand from there.

Small poppers will get some keepers.

Bare hook...

I was catching large sunnies on clouser patterns the other day haha.. I don't think they really care, so long as it moves and somewhat replicates some sort of "food"

I guess fly fishing can be tough. Learning to catch fish with a regular setup could greatly speed up your learning curve.
