Wtg on jumbos frozenfire.....these pics of perch are getting me worked up to target them....may be last day for ice where i fish simcoe

Gonna have to get me some of those this weekend. Get em on minnows?

No, I almost never use live bait. Especially for panfish.
My friend did bring waxworms...but I didn't really use them as the fish hit everything anyways.
All fish on plastics, jigs, spoons.

Fresh fried perch are too tasty.

I use a Marcum VS620. So it's fairly easy for me.
I can see which are the bigger fish and concentrate on getting those!
My camera is close to bottom where most of the fish are. To get the suspended fish that are higher up in the water column, I use my Humminbird 345c.

Lots of dinks that you still have to sort through though, but with my camera, I can avoid the aggressive little buggers and coax the larger ones to hit... it just sucks when there are like 50 dinks on your screen...
Only a handful of true keepers after going through several hundred smaller ones

oh nice, electronics seem like they are key when using artificials. How deep were you fishing?

My plan was to drill two holes in the hut and have one live bait rod and one rod with a spoon to attract the fish.

Were they suspended or on bottom? Seems like it would be pretty tough chasing fish without electronics at that depth. I will probably just end up chasing groups of huts.

They are everywhere. Throughout the water column.
You can either fish directly on bottom (where most of the fish are) or you can jig 5-10ft below your hole and watch the perch attack your offering.
Sight fishing can be quite fun!

Just watch you dont keep fouling up your setline with jigging a spoon to agressively.....my favorite panfish spoon is forage minnow with a tube rigged over the treble
