Hey folks,

Just purchased a new 19 ft Legend Excalibur with down riggers. I want to spend the weekend in Parry Sound and try out my equipment. However, I have never fished this area. I have been to Parry Sound many times and think it's a beautiful town. But this trip I will be bringing the boat and want to try and hook into a salmon (I've never caught one)

I'm hoping there are some members/locals who have launched out of Parry Sound and searched for salmon or rainbow.

My questions are...

1. Place to launch (where)

2. Areas/location to start fishing/down rigging. In the bay itself or do you head out to the big water?

3. Cheap hotel/motel/accommodations

If you can help with some or all of these q's I would be eternally grateful. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks very much.

Not sure how the salmon are faring up there. It's a good lake trout fishery in Parry Sound proper. Scattered rainbow.
The mouth of 12 Mile Bay used top be great for salmon but it's a 18 mile run. Part of Parry Sound is a off limits for lakers so make sure you check the reg's or better still ask. You can launch on the s/s of the river mouth at Parry Sound Marina. If you're up for a bit of an adventure I'd stay at the Cragonmoor (sp) Resort which is 8 miles south on the inner channel. It's right on the water, dock at your door step and great wings!!!!!!!!!!

I'll double check the regs when I arrive. Also, I checked out the Craganmor Resort as you suggested. Too rich for my blood. Just looking for something inexpensive for two nights. 175$ per night is not necessary this weekend. But, a very nice place to spend a week with the fam.

Thanks Faceman.

Hey Shawn. Look up Rosepoint Marina and give Guy a call. I'm thinking more of a safe spot to leave the craft overnight without having to haul it in and out. Once again, great folks. We left our big boat there off and on last Sept and they treated us right.. Then you can stay close and not worry about the boat in a parking lot. :) :D

Rosepoint is at the south end just north of the swing bridge.

I checked out Rosepoint and know exactly where that is. Perhaps I will make arrangements to leave my boat there.

Thanks again! Cheers!

Shawn
