I'm looking for some advice on fishing in lake Erie. I have a 14' aluminum boat, 9.9 Merc & fishfinder. I've been out once back in June looking for perch but didn't find anything. Now that most of the summer craziness is over I have time to get back at it again :) We set out from Port Glasgow last time, but I'm open to suggestions.

Where would be a great place to take the kids (who are all keen to go) and head out for perch or anything else. We can pick the day & weather, we need advice most of all ! How far out, how deep of water, mostly we use live bait (worms, etc) and nothing really fancy for gear. I don't think I have to have downriggers etc to find some good fish.

Thanks in advance!

why not take them SALMON fishing in lake o out of any creek mouth try the credit. If you cant i know lake simecoe has amazing perch fishing like common 1lb perch. Im not sure for eerie though as ive never fished out of eerie on a boat, not that i can remember atleast

The Credit is 3 hrs away, Simcoe more like 5. I'm looking for a day trip that doesn't involve staying over somewhere (me & 3 kids under 12). I'm close to Huron & Erie both, but they are both big blank lakes, don't really know where to start down here (near London/Grand Bend)

I am going down to Mitchel's Bay (lake st. clair) on Monday morning. They said at one of the places down there they are catching bass & that will be fun for the kids for sure. There are perch too, we'll see what we get.

Any other suggestions would still be great!

Wait abit longer and get them from shore or near shore. The niagara river and hamilton harbour are good perch spots in the fall.
