similar to a small innocent child walking towards your convoy with a goat--them boom--as much as he sounds a little overdone--I would tend to assume that if you approach the largest bomb in Canada (nuclear power plant) without approval and they decide you are a threat...you get to close to Justin beiber you get thumped---these guys will end your fishing trip...lol

lmao remy you kill me

I don't see the point in pushing your luck there. Lake O is huge. there has got to be plenty of other areas to fish without the trouble.

I have a story for you. This is why you should not go around power plants.

A friend of mine once told myself and a group of our friends about an abandoned place. We thought we should check it out. Now it just so happened this abandoned house was near a power plant (New Market I think?)

We decided to park on the side of the road and walk into the forest in search of the abandoned house. We were pretty far into the woods when we noticed massive barbed wire fences and through these, the power plant. We were definitely in the wrong area.

We started heading back to our car when through the bushes we could see a power plant security officer looking into our vehicle. Now realizing we were probably in some trouble for being so close, we decided to flank around the officer through the woods. While doing this our group got separated. Half of us had walked down and then cut onto the road about half a KM down from the car. The other half travelled through the woods.

Long story short we got to our car and could see the officer looking in the bushes for us. We sneaked into our car and made a run for it. We took off in search of finding the other half of our group. About an hour later we found them a couple KMs from where we parked. We picked them up and they told us the officer had stopped them on the road and asked about our car, our license plate and if they had seen us.

Stay away from the plant. Hahaha.

Sorry for the huge story. The stupid things we do when we were kids...

boat or walking...dont waste your time, you will be kicked out in less than 3 minutes. They do not mess around near any power plants.

Hi All,
I have been fishing the nuke plant for the last 10 years with a 14' aluminium, full floatation survival gear etc. We fish the "small outflow" and "big outflow". On AVERAGE we EACH land a MINIMUM 20 fish per trip, best day 35 fish(fishing from 7am-1pm). Fish include; bass, bows, browns, carp, walleye, striper bass, pike.......on a GOOD day, you can land EVERY species listed. We usually fish from mid December to late March. Have fished when its minus 30 (not that fun) but still get alot of fish. We usually fish with 2 boats for safety reasons. The only place where you get kicked out is by the main outflow, and we have NEVER been kicked out. Only seen guys in the spring where 4 boats try fish in there and then got kicked out(didn't help guy giving security the finger). As long as you wave and are courteous to the security patrol we have NO PROBLEMS. We have had METRO (Toronto) Police Marine Unit out there while fishing and they said nothing to us. So, no snipers, nothing to that effect. The "small outflow" and most of the the "big outflow" are public water, if you are right beside the main outflow, then yes they can kick you out.

So, if you have a tinner, you can fish it. Recommend fishing with a min. 14'er with a good free board, reliable engine, all safety gear, and KNOW your Lake O weather for Lake conditions or you WILL regret it. If you want to see some good gopro video, send me a msg and I'll send you a utube link.

You can fish east and west outflows with no issue as long as you do not anchor or touch base on shore.
You CANNOT enter or fish the inflow.
You CANNOT access by foot or fish from shore at all.

Fishing from shore was permitted many years ago but was stopped shortly after 9/11.

And yes the security team is there but the ones you see are not the guys to worry about, its the team you don't see that will take you down if needed.

Guys, think twice.

Harper does not play games... does he LOOK like a guy with a sense of humor?

There is no longer any tolerance for trespassers around any nuclear generating plant, or any other sensitive facility, in Canada.

There are CSOR snipers in place, 24/7, and these boys can reach out and touch you from well over 2,000 meters.

You'll know you've gone too far when the .50 cal round impacts centre mass.

Then they simply disappear you, no press, no funeral.

It can really ruin a fishing trip.

thats just not right.

i actually fly quite often, its part of my job.

the terrorists have obviously done their jobs, because you sir, seem terrified.
it is people like this guy that are the true threat to this country.

i have seen people kayaking around the Nuke plant all summer. Just don't go along the main outflow. Besides, most people i know that goes around the area on their kayaks don't even want to get close there. Water sometimes have weird swings in them and might just slowly drift you closer than OPG staff wants you to...who knows who's watching you but just by simple paddling close doesn't mean they're going to take you down. that's a bit too much.

One of those tales that grows bigger and bigger. I personally know a guy working security there. Yes their fire arm trained such as any brinks guard. No . They don't shoot at fisherman out on the lake. Lol
