Nice, how much does one of those go for? Would you say it's more or less practical than a canoe?

to be honest this will my first time ever using it :p i got mine from basspro.com for about 210$ including shipping, im picking up a minn kota 30lb thrust trolling motor from SAIL this week along with the battery, the boat is 10'10'' long by 5'5'' wide, so there is plenty of room for me and one of my friends to join me, made of really thick material so i dont think puncturing it with a hook will be a problem as long as we dont jam it in there! im going to say its a little more practical than a canoe just because it isnt as tippy, and you can control where you want go more easily with a trolling motor! ive been really looking forward to getting out there for the first time because i have always been stuck to shore fishing, which has actually worked out pretty well for me lol

i have also read that the people have been fishing from a boat on canal and mitchell lakes with success already this year, they said the main channel was open and that was on monday :)

Sweet! Yes the canoe is tippy that's for sure LOL. I remember bringing it to salmon fish at the Bronte Pier LOL, not doing that again XD.

anyone have any updates on the ice conditions on canal lake and mitchell lake? really hoping to get out this week with all the warm weather for some pike :)

went 0 for 1 tonight, i had one pike on, would have been my first ever too! some how ended up with a catfish using a husky jerk though :p hey i'm not complaining

i have another question, i know you need a metal wire leader, but does a fluorocarbon leader work just as well? will the pike bite right through that?

If they start biting through a good flourocarbon leader then this sport is getting too rough for me. I might take up full-contact knitting or something.
