Pink worm rig

So if you are rigging with a needle,, bead and all that do you pre-tie before going on the river? If so, how do you keep the leaders from tangling? It seems a bit too time consuming to be doing while fishing.

I have used a needle to thread pink worms and yes I always rig them ahead of time. To store these I use an item called a tackle tamer, which come in two sizes. One size will hold 6 rigs and the longer will hold 12 rigs. These rigs are used by walleye fishermen to hold their pre tied worm harnesses. You can find these in many tackle shops and I have seen them in Walmart. Canadian tire carries something similar made by Lindy to hold rigs as well. I like these as well. Needles can be purchased at fabric stores. If memory serves me correct, I think they are called doll needles, but I could be messed up on this one.

thanks guys!

well i went out today to try the rig set up with my pink worm i pretty much used it in a wacky style. the presentation looked pretty decent but i guess the colour was abit to vibrant and would spook to many of them. (btw i fish at the credit) i switched to the single eggs and found they were popping off my hook abit to frequently. i was thinking off getting some beads tomorrow, what colour beeds should i pick up? and do they come in different sizes?

Yes, they come in sizes I think from 6mm-14mm, dependent on conditions I would say 8mm-10mm, but roe is hands down winner, I started using single eggs last week, burned through a lot but never because they fell off.. You must be doing it wrong what's your method?

Did anyone run pink worms for chinnys this year with any success? I got a few with them but they could have been flossed...

I got ONE (and it hit - Out of Territorial Aggresion or not - Only he knows)

On the topic of "Purchasing PINK WORMS":

I buy, spend ... support CANADIAN BUSINESS 100%
However, when it comes to Certain Plastics, i will not pay $6.99- $7.99 ....$11 here.

FRIGGIN RIP OFF!

I use "Lucky Lady" pinks - 3" that i get online through Ebay.
They cost: $2.25 (Canadian dollar is pretty well on par)

Takes about 2 weeks at most to come by mail.
I get 25 in a pack (vs 10)

If you always keep the BILLING BELOW $20, never an issue with Customs (Taxes).
I would also recommend using a: PRE-PAID Credit Card (Secure) for the Transaction. ( I have one registered with PayPAL)

Again, I support CANADIAN ... but on this issue - will not get ROBBED when it comes to Pinkies.
My opinion- Solution

i agree with you blair the prices that are found on ebay are cheaper versus the quantity. hows the quality, pretty much the same?

btw for $2.50 thats a nice variety of colours to hold on too

Quality is perfect.
*I do keep them in a Jar of "Gulp" (liquid scent feramones) worms that I had already bought here.

You do have to "Watch" it with plastics.
Some get hard, go out of shape .... for various reasons:

- Out of package
- putting in liquid
- adding "Roe" or other ingredients (Salt, Sugar) etc.
- Sometimes just "TIME".

However, at $2.25 for a package of 25 .... Not too worried about it.

Ps: I also will PICK NATURAL DEW worms, all the time.
That's free!

Just do not keep targeting one specific area of your lawn/garden or they will not have a chance to regenerate.

Got this little guy back in September. He inhaled it, hooked deep in the back of the mouth. Since then haven't hooked anything on pink worms. I go out for steelhead a few times a week and haven't had much success. Only thing I find that's been working is beads, flies, and of course roe.

I find that in April (opener) they work great.
During the fall ... not so well (Roe, Beads, Flies and Hardware being the "go to")
In late fall: End Nov, Dec they then pick up again.

Down in Niagara (Big water or very deep pools), I was using a little "trick":
I use about a Half of a Pinky (1.5") & a Roe bag (openfire calls it the "buffet")

Granted, I lost all (3) that i had on (Bottom fishing).
I figure that was my fault: (Shame on me)

- Too lazy to reset worm/roe bag to properly expose hook for setting
- Didnt double check setup after minor snags
- One hook was "older" not 100% sharp

Here's one in action:
