Inspired by frozenfires post, thought I'd get out and try out some ponds too.
Went out Sunday evening with the girlfriend to check out some spots that we had some success with last year. We arrived at the first pond at around 6pm and fished for a couple of hours without too much to show for it. Disappointed, we thought we'd try out one more pond nearby before it would start to get dark. Fortunately for us, we managed to land a few before we left.
The pond was pretty much choked with weeds. From the looks of it, it might have been the same pond frozenfire was at. Anyways, we were both using texas rigged 6" plastic worms (watermelon colour) casting into whatever open pockets we could spot.
My girlfriend caught the first fish after a few casts. Little guy must have been hungry, the worm was almost the same length as the fish!
After a little lull in action, I managed to land the biggest largemouth bass I've caught here. Put up a pretty good fight. It ended up splashing quite a bit (as can be seen) as I went to unhook it.
We caught a few more bass (just a little bigger than the first one) and ended the day with a nice rockbass
With the Centre Island ferry not running, the local ponds were the next closest place we could think of to try and get into some bass. All in all, we had a fun few hours out there!
