Shoot I've forgotten the speed of the IST 1562...?

Hi the Xst is much Faster in the tip Imho then the IST blanks. I have built and fished both the 2 and the 3 piece XST rods both nice sticks powerful! but the IST is a we bit softer and is considered a light float rod the xst is a medium light float rod.I have went back to the Ist i personally like softer blank for the type of water i fish.Hope that helps a bit. Cheers

Yeah, I understand a lot of guys are opting for a softer rod and more continuous power through the entire length something like the IMX I take it.

Yes the IMX is by far one of the all time greatest rods ever produced but are becoming a thing of the past if you break one anyway there is no warranty replacement at least not another imx you will receive the so called imx 1601 3 piece rod which is not a true imx , Cts are very nice as well very very similar to Imx very light in hand but still has the Umph to land fish big fish .Unless your fishing big water like the geen or Other big water systems with fast flows there is no need for a broom stick Lol. I sure wish loomis still sold blanks.I have went to Rainshadow and Cts.if you can find them they still bring $500 for a imx blank so they hold there value very well but are becoming a thing of the past. Cheers DriftSlayer

XST are the most popular from what I've seen. The 1382F is the one I have. For an 11'6 it comes with a crazy amount of power, which helps me land fish very fast. The blank is very fast, light and whippy. First few times using it I was having my floats and split shot fly at me on hooksets, but it didn't take long to get used to. It's perfect for the east tribs as I had it built just for down there. Using a 14' bushwhacking was not fun.

1582F is the 13' which I've seen quite a few of. I see the 2 piece the most, but I've read reviews on the 3 piece and people have to run heavier leader and bigger hooks cause its a beast of a stick.

CJR Thanks for the posting the link,You summed up the Xst line very good,They are fast action tip and very light in hand i built myself a 3 piece 13 its a big stick i run for big, fast ,water it is a powerful rod by all means but still light enough to run smaller tippet.if needed,The 2 piece is a nice rod too very light in hand and is not as powerful as the 3 piece but a very powerful rod still very responsive. the 1382 xst is beauty rod very fast hook sets that need to get used to, its one of my favorite blanks out there very light. The IST series of rods are nice softer rods then xst,s they make a beautiful rod as well its all personal preference. The spey blanks are sweet too.
