What are your first impressions of this new lure from Rapala?

Looks like the black eyed Albino Shiner, Ghost, Ghost Shiner and Perch would make it into my box some day. Only if they are under 10 bucks though... but with the integrated fixed weight system that imitates a fishes swim bladder ( thats some science right there ) I'm not sure I'll be able to get this lure for under 15 bones.

Imo rapalas are too expensive when my waters generallly have snags. I haven't bought a rapala (besides a j-13) since 2 years ago when I lost a $12 lure on the first cast.

Look at like Lucky Craft lures and Idea's. Myself am a big fan of L.C lures especially this line of lures: http://www.luckycraft.com/luckycrafthome/Products/jerkbait/bladecross90.htm but most of there lures are very good. Have a quite few of them and have had great success with them.

But might have to give one of these a go, i like the ghost shiner and the moss back shiner. Any idea on the prices?
It looks like US retail is $8.99, not sure how much cdn retail will be

anything right now with exchange and import tax is at least 20% more minimum.

rapala quality has gone down a lot since last 10 years. i bought a j11, the lip broke on a deep dive, returned it and got a second one, fish got snagged, got my lure back, the paint between the join chipped, 1 fish lol.

as far as this lure it is just a jerk bait. not any more special than the husky jerk. is it worth the buy? only if you dont own a husky jerk or get it for free.

for that price it opens a wide door to many manufacturers that have better colours. yo zuri for example.

from what i understood, fish like erratic movement and lures that move randomly catch the most fish. this lure you do it yourself, hence it is not special.

@catfish take out all hooks excluding the tail hook. i did that with all my hot n tots and flatfish. unless your lure is massive, chance of you not setting the hook on a <12cm lure with one hook is very little. unless your fish was tiny. you can always change to a single hook also with the point pointing upwards.

Cant say Im super impressed. They have so many different lines of lures that are pretty much the same, they just tweak them slighty and change the name and bam new lure lol. I try to stick to their original lineups like the husky jerks and stuff, however their xraps do work pretty awesome. Keep it simple

Are these available in stores now or do they have a release date for Canada?
They are in our discounted catalog. So I am able to get them. I am not sure if they are available to the public yet..

I can find out though about when they come out for the public. If you want to know.

Only used the scatter rap a few times. Haven't caught anything on it. Mostly fly fishing more then picking up anything else. But it's a pretty awesome lure. The action it makes is pretty wild.

I am a fan of the shadow rap in concept. For those that say it looks like a husky jerk under the water I can somewhat agree with what your saying but you have to work twice as hard to work a husky jerk. They seem to be similar to the Japanese jerk baits in a more affordable price point for the average angler, they will likely find there way into at least one jerkbait box for me this summer.

Il try PUMP's if/when he gets one. So far from just looking at the underwater demo vids on youtube, im not seeing whats so great about it.

Honestly the SPRO MCSticks are a bit cheaper than the rapalas and the actions are way better. I got a couple of pointers and vision 110s and I am just not too crazy about the price lol. Especially as most of the lakes I fish have pike or musky and I am not looking to loose a 25 dollar jerk bait because of a gator. As for colors, SPRO has 18 different colors and I would say that only 6 of the colors I used worked up here.

Thought i would bump this post, I got one a couple a few weeks ago and tried it at the end of March. I can say that I retract my statement about the lure. Its action is actually quite cool, and easy to impart. They cast much further than a Husky Jerk, and sink slowly. The hooks are thinner wire than the standard Rapala hooks. Overall it seems like a good bait. Fishing World in Hamilton has them for 10$.
