Last night my wife and I were fishing, and she accidentally embedded a hook in her finger - I remembered this video and used a leftover piece of backing, but 20 lb test would work also. Worked like a charm, all that was left was a little hole. Worth knowing for sure -

had that happen before. but i wish i had that bottle of jack daniel. brings you a whole new meaning of tearing you a new one :)

then i found out its would have been alot less painful just to push it out on and cut the tip off and slid it out.

Sometimes you can do that. With my wife, it was right in the knuckle, and no opportunity to push through. She was ready to go to emergency, but this worked great. Two days later, nothing there but a bruise - no kidding!

Had same spot but tendon involved and tip of hook bent when it hit knuckle going in. Hospital only way it worked for me - even DR had a time said one of his worst yet that year, had to cut in and out it came. Great work now I know who to call. LOL

There was a good article about removing the hook, in this months's issue of Ontario Out of Doors. I might be able to scan it and post it here in the next few days

WOW, I have never been that unfortunate yet to do that to myself, just the small ones barely breaking skin. But yeah that big bottle of Jack would make it all better anyways lol.

LoL i got a treble hook imbedded into my thumb and had to go to ER this past spring... when the doctor used a needle to freeze my thumb that broke as he jammed it into me worst fishing trip ever lol i have some pics laying around

Ive had a few surface wounds over the years but only one good hookin. I had a bomber long A crankbait treble hook buried up to the first bend lodged on a 45 degree angle into my index finger at the base of the nail. Aprox 1/2" into bone and nail. It took 3 doctors to get it out....2 to hold pressure on my hand so my finger didnt break as they were yanking it out with pliers. The other doc to yak it with the pliers.(the pliers slipped off 4 times before finally loosing and coming out) The receptionists face at emerge when she asked me what the problem was and i didnt reply, i only lifted up my hand to show the lodged hook was priceless.(cut off lure) I still have and use that same lure!(repainted now..hehe)
Ahh good times. :D
