How'd you guys make out? I couldn't make it out ths weekend

Fished saturday for a few hours. Surprised to hear they were all small fish, most of ours were over slot. Only 4 keepers. Had to make some adjustments this year with the weeds being so thick this early. Good day over all.

I fished on Sunday morning from about 8am until 12pm. I didn't notice any thick weeds. Spots that have had thick weeds in the past had none this year. I did find sparse and scattered weedbeds and that was probably why I didn't get bigger fish and more of them. Even a few feet out from my dock where it goes from 6 ft out to about 12 ft there are no weeds at all.

Saw lots of panfish and a few big bass swimming by my dock.

Around Margaret Island the weeds always seem thick and there are numerous beds in various depths but none to be had this year. Just sparse scattered ones. Should have put in more time to really hunt the thick beds.

I moved around to a bunch of spots but my most productive was the first spot. On one of my first casts my line got bit off so it was either a walleye or a musky. I had another walleye on that I lost boatside. I caught 3 others at this first location and 1 smallie.

For the rest of the day I managed 1 other walleye and 4 or 5 smallies and 1 tiny largie which were all released immediately. 1 smallie was an absolute tank, I estimate close to 5 lbs. All the walleye were small, I guess 13-15 inches, all released.

I also tried for Crappies on the north shore in really shallow water but only managed to catch 7 or 8 average sized perch.

The walleyes were caught on either a custom Fish Master suspending crankbait similar to a Husky Jerk or an XZone Leech. Bass were caught on Fish Master lure, silver and blue X-Rap or the XZone leeches and pan slammers and the perch were all caught on XZone Pan Slammers.

Thanks. That sounds like a productive day to me!

yeah i noticed very little weeds and very clear water on my kawartha lake, severn river was very low flow and got most of the fish in main lake.

WATCH OUT for what we WISH FOR!
I got a feeling the weeds are in late bloom this year .... but are going to come in with a VENGENCE.

Bet by late August we'll all be wishing the DAM WEEDS would just go away!

brush guard jigheads for the rippin with braid/flouro combo and a little stiffer rod pickies hold deep into weeds year round

some pic of the goings on
