Bored one afternoon, so I rounded up my niece and we headed over to the storm pond at the corner of Yonge St and Jefferson Sideroad, Richmond Hill.

Within seconds of placing my hook with a 3" Gulp Minnow on it - Bam! A Rock Bass. Not huge, but perfect for a 8 year old. We were there for maybe an hour and in total we caught 6.

So if you are looking for a time killer - check it out!!

htat last pic is interesting.
looks like a hybrid to me. a cross between pumpkinseed and blugill... different patterning and colours for sure.

Yes it look like a mix to me too.

When they are the only ones in the water... it'll happen

Great fish for an 8 year old...I can`t wait till my nephew gets old enough to fish...he just holds the hook over the water and expects the fish to jump out and grab on...he is only 4, lol!
