The Rouge River Marsh is located at the mouth of the Rouge River off of Lawrence, just east of Port Union Road. See map below.

This evening I went out to the Rouge River Marsh. It looks like an excellent bass habitat, but despite my best effort, I was unable to get a bite.

It seemed to me that the best spots to fish in this area would be accessible with a canoe, rather than from shore...

I spoke with a gentleman fishing from shore who told me that he had recently caught many largemouth bass from his boat (no motor).

The pictures above are of the inland bay. The water directly in front of me in this picture was quite shallow.

I could see fish activity closer to the middle of the bay, well beyond casting distance.

Another local told me that there were many carp in the waters.

Please add to this thread if you have any info/reports.

Hey openfire, next time you come down this way, PM me or something. I live near Port Union and Lawrence, so this is my neck of the woods.

I've never had much luck fishing the Rouge Marsh from shore. I've done better from my float tube, going up the river a bit. Here's a nice 18 inch smallmouth bass I caught a couple weeks ago.

It's strange, but I've also caught catfish while fishing for bass in there... using a spinner?!

I wish I'd put up a report earlier and saved you the trouble. (I've been meaning to, but hadn't gone down to get pictures of the area yet.) The marsh looks like it should be holding a lot of fish, but it doesn't seem to.
