Ya that's crazy a 5 wt on salmon that's not a matter of if but when a salmon snaps it there's just not enough backbone to it

if you can play a fish properly I would assume you can use a 2wt to get salmon to shore...in theory only issue would be the damage done to the fish after a 4 hour fight,,

I'm not saying that you can't use it but if you are making the jump to a premium rod, based on what your last post indicated, a 10' # 7 might be a better choice. There is no one rod that does everything but that doesn't mean you need 6 either. Most dudes can get by their entire life with a 9' #4 and a 10' #7.
