Dont mind Sail i find the staff to be very friendly and for most part very knowledgeable, The 2 times i have been to BP I found the staff did not listen to what i was asking about and seemed to really pump the BP line of products.

Hey Eric I'd much rather put money into my own countries economy then a foreign one such as the states even if it means spending a bit more money. That's why I barely ever cross border shop, id much rather buy fishing equipment in my own country

Am I the only person that find Sail rediculously priced? went in there Twice, even compared to BP they are at least 20% more expensive.
i find what your saying is the exact opposite of my experience. Ive stopped spending money at BP bc Sail is so much cheaper.

i try to shop at local tackle shops as much as possible, tightlines and gagnons are on the way. but i also think sail has better prices and is more suited to my steelhead and salmon needs. the staff are very knowledgable and friendly, most of the time when i go in there i end up talking fish stories for an hour. also it seems they have a 15% off or save the taxes sale every 4-6 weeks, thats when i make most of my big equipment purchases.

they are canadian, always a plus.

so you force yourself into restraining your own options and freedom of choice. but thats your decision so i cant say anything to that.

I think BPS staff are more enthusiastic than the Sail staff. Bought a Sahara reel yesterday at Sail because of the sale but found it hard to find staff. The ones I saw were on their phones or looking bored trying to kill time till the end of their shift. If it wasn't for the sale I would have bought from BPS or Lebaron they are both cheaper and friendlier.

when you buy the items here. majority arent made here. like your fishing rods. (i havent seen a made in canada rod yet)
the money leaves canada anyways (to us china japan), the only money that stays is the HST tax you pay.

so if your going to be paying tax anyways, you might as well import better items thats not locally available, pay the tax and support your government.
since the money is going to leave canada, anyways in the end. it makes no difference.

If ur buying from a local business, it will obviously keep it running, if nobody's buying from the business it is obviously going to shut down. When the people lose their jobs it will ultimate affect the economy negatively. So yes it does make a difference to buy in Canada.

it doesnt help when they only stock such a mediocre selection compared to whats available on the market.

10% population isnt an excuse for 10% selection. thats not the best way to run any business. :T

Haha ya right its not ten percent the selection, and its not an excuse its a reason....i never knew it was such a big deal that I support my own country
