Was there early this morning, not expecting anything although I did get all the lures and baits needed for salmon. a few guys got some roe (no idea if artificial or not). So far since they got there, no bites. Saw salmons swimming. Moved away closer to the beach and set up. As I was gearing up, saw 4 salmons swimming in the banks, very shallow you can see the fins sticking out of the water (is this normal?). First thing I could grab was a red vibrax spinner. tossed it 10 feet from the salmons reeling towards their sides...nope. started to move away then 3 cameback the same bank, tossed the vibrax again...still none. rigged fake salmon eggs with garlic marshmallow on the tip...salmon take a whiff...but didn't bite. had it floating right in front for 30 minutes. salmons just swim back and forth...not interested.

out of 7 anglers...not one bite...oh wait, one guy just got one. big one, i went for a closer look, he's about to land it, the salmon was caught on it's belly. with mallows on the hook. snapped his 8lb line.

tossed some cleos, j13, williams wobbler...almost the kitchen sink...but the salmon was more interested in swimming back and forth. I saw a lot of salmon activity now compared last year but still got skunked. i'm going back tomorrow. another day.

From my experiences Ive only seen salmon strike the first day they are in the river, the first 12 hours even. They are in uncharted territory and being harassed by hundreds of people lol Once they get passed the first couple pools of countless anglers they are SPOOKED If you time it right and fish right near the lake (within 1km) you will get fish to hit roe, pink worms, and possibly hardware i havent seen it but believe it would work. Also a tip that will save you money, the roe at Canadian tire is trash I used it for my first season of steelheading nd didnt catch my first chromer until the next season lol Most tackle shops sell pre tied sacs and even some vending machines that sell worms will have em too.

Hope this helps good luck out there tomorrow!!

Floats down!

I hear you, Sho and I were out on Friday. We hit two tribs, thought we could maybe dial into some chrome. Counted alot of fresh salmon still in the rivers and lots of dead ones. Came acrossed a few pools holding chrome and a few browns. We tried everything. roe, worms(live and pink), even flys (those did get a few looks but no hits). Maybe with this cool down our luck will change. Will need to try the Rouge though, only fished it once before. Thanks for the update!
