Salty Lure Idea ?

I remember reading about it here that the reason why Senko works well is because it is totally mixed with salt?

I just had a thought in my mind about a lure idea.

What if I take one of those soft thin elastic band tube (those elastic band that kinda look like heat shrink tube) cut it into whatever inch. Tie one end and just load it up with salt in the tube and tie the other end and maybe have few very small pin hole around the tube to have the salt melt & leak out to attract the fish~?
And fish it wacky style ?
BTW> I think big sea salt would work best.

I think you would need more than just one pin-hole. I think it would have to be perforated almost like a tea bag to have the same effect as a senko. But since salt is cheap, you could just keep re-filling the tube with salt as needed. It's a good idea that may actually work. Give it a try.

(Don't forget that the senko is effective also because of the way it sinks with that jiggly motion when wacky rigged.)

MikeyMikey, you can get latex surgical tubing at Home Depot right by yonge & hwy 7. I think its like 15 bucks for 10 ft., I guess if you did this, it might save you some cash, but I'm not sure it would work. I use this stuff to make my own paint grenades, just cut off a foot of it, then tie off one end of it, then get a small drill or dremel and make a hole (1 hole would be good enough, 2 holes you might be losing a lot of salt quickly), put the holes wherever you want the salt to come out of, so maybe at end of one side of the latex worm, after you did that, fill the thing with salt (easy to do with a syphon), if you don't have a syphon just put a bowl underneth your hands while filling, easier to refill wasted salt. Next, tie off the open end of the latex worm, and lastly, cut of most of the excess surgical tubing.

My worry would be, once it ran out of salt it would just float to the surface, then you would have to refill it again reknot it. You can also by plastic line ties at homedepot, that might be able to remedy that, or somesort of small clip.

The senko works well because the slight wiggle motion on the down fall the fish love it and subtle action when dragging it on the ground salt doesnt attract fish it may make the fish hold on longer for a good hookset, but other than that the impregnated salt makes garys senkos softer and the fall faster i have this wonderful place which is quite popular on another board who's plastics are great it is http://www.alluringbaits.com/home.php?x ... ce99684739

Or you can buy senko style Yum plastics as well which come impregnated with salt in the package. and only cost about $3.00 at Walmart and maybe even cheaper at Lebaron

Don't put wet jigs back into the packaging as I found out the jigs rust with the salt...doh!!!

Have you ever watched those guys fish for carp? They chum the water with all kinds of bait to attract the fish. What if you were to chum the water with some rock salt to attract the fish to your area? This might be worth trying.
