Yeah, he always fished that spot.
As for me, I only like the spots where I can land & release fish easily. Nothing special.

Yep
That one you landed was pretty big, should have weighed her but I quess lowmid 20 lb. She had a lot of fight in her still. I would have grabbed my pliers and just taken the hook out without netting her.

You had some serious bend in you rod, I thought you were going to break it.
Jose.

I found that by using a single hook (Wiwash)... you really need to pump the rod 2~3 more time to set the hook properly. Which I have done on that fish... yet still hook just came off in the net without me even touching it.
Because of that reason... when my rod goes flat with line slack (fishing charging towards me) I have to reel it in as fast as I can because when that fish makes a turn again... I would usually loose the fish by hook coming off.
Because it is a single hook, I have to use a bigger size which would than require a harder hookset. Wish my rod was MediumHeavy.

Regardless... gotta sharpen those hooks!

Yeah my rod,,, St. Crois 10'6" Medium Power ModFast, I thought it would have more backbone than that but it's good enough. If I had fish close to 30lb's and fight the way I fight the fish... i would for sure have broke my rod before snapping my line.

Maybe I should get MidHeavy or Heavy and use 50lb PP like I used to. haha... With PowerPro 50lb you have so much confidence in your line that you just brute force the fish in without looking at the rod bend which is about to break in half.

Got any recommendation for a 9'6"+ length rod that is MH or even Heavy? but with soft tip? (UglyStick??)

St Croix Avid 9 1/2 and 10 1/2 ft casting versions.
I have two of the Wild river rods and I noticed the difference is like night and day between Avid and Wild river. The avids are way lighter and have some serious backbone to them. A light enough tip to cast out there.
Might be down Sunday, so maybe check it out. They have some serious backbone
The 9 1/2 I use for casting spoons, Curado300 and Calcutta 200GTB
The 10 1/2 ft for floating roe and flies with a Calcutta 200DC.
I have seen you cast and you can still out cast me with a spinning reel but not buy much.

OK.

Next Week/end we'll do it at the Ashbridge's Bay Park.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Would you prefer morning or later aft/evening ? If so, which day(s) ?
