Saturday April 18th High Park Report (no pics)

Got to High Park @ 1, started fishing from the wooden platform, no bites. I moved towards the north side of the pond near the swamp, hooked my self a jumbo perch on my bobber + pink maggot powerbait. Next cast, caught another one. Then I moved around along the shore and caught another two.

In total, I caught 4 jumbo perches. No signs of crappie or sunfish.

Sorry for my half ass report. I just got home from a night downtown.

don't u have cell phone with camera.that is what i use(Sony Ericsson W810i).u don't need to carry separate camera.

you can walk along that whole shoreline to fish, you're not just limited to that dock.
I remember two years ago, chibi and i went for a walk along high park and noticed that one family caught lots of tiny crappie that they kept. i can't remember what they were using, but they were successful. this was also early summer, not spring!
People at the dock were catching lots of small tiny sunfish with worms. what i did notice was that the action of all the sunfish attracts predatory fish such as pike, and one was seen that day chasing sunfish.

don't forget that lots of carp are in that pond too. Many fishermen use bread and/or corn, cast it out, let it sink to bottom, and set the rod. It's a waiting game. :twisted:

I don't fish from the wooden platform, I have a secret spot on that pond which I choose not to share. I've been fishing there for a while and I'm almost used to the pond. Well just that day, I found that spot with the perches. I might there again tomorrow.

What do you consider to be "jumbo perch"? I have been to Grenadier pond many times, caught a lot of perch and other sunfish, but never ever caught or ever seen anyone caching anything remotely close to a jumbo perch.
So don't mind me being skeptical - I am just curious about this

I'd have to say it was around 9-10 inches, it was big because it couldn't fit my hand around it. It put a little good fight on my ultralight rod.
