Snuck out for a couple hours at Caesarea today (If you don't know where that is, look up my older report from last year), and it was probably one of my more memorable solo trips. Fished starting at around 7:30pm.

Before dark, that spot is usually not very productive, and I was still able to land a few. Got a couple of crappie and perch here and there. And a really good fighting rock bass that even put my drag to the test.

Walleye were caught once it got dark, but I wasn't lucky enough to get one today.

Weather was amazing, little to no winds warm enough for only a light jacket.

Fished around a little while, and Bam! A surprisingly large scugog crappie shows up! Taken on a Fin-S shad 2.5" in Rainbow Trout colour. (left all my white gulp minnows at home so they had to do)

Really sorry for the bad pics though, I never remember to bring my camera and I always end up using my 2 megapixel LG camera on the phone.

Probably a good 12 - 13" crappie. Don't have any other photos or a measuring tape to prove you its size, but it was a few inches longer than my hand's span, which is about 9".

Sorry I don't have any more photos but Luckily for you guys, that fish was released

nice slab!
since it's back in the water, i'll be sure to catch it next time hahaha.
did you still float fish? or did you jig it off the bottom like how i've been doing it there?

the water looks so calm yesterday night...when i went, waves were coming in fast and furious...still had some success though.

99% of my fishing at Caesarea is with a float. The walleye hit at like a 3 foot depth further along down that pier

Thanks guys, and Dirk, did you end up getting into any crappie so far this year?

I would say i do 60% jigging off the bottom and 40% float fishing out at that spot.
Majority of walleye I have caught there are right off the rocks on the bottom.
They can come in really shallow though...I have seen them follow and smash my lure 2 feet from shore...definitely cool to watch that

BTW, I'm down tonight if you wanna meet up?
I think Chibi's gonna come too and try for some slabs while i work for the walleyes again. :?
