Hey, I'm new to the site and I'm looking at rods for drop shotting. I think that I've narrowed it down to either the Shimano Crucial or the G Loomis E6X. I'm just curios for your opinions. I am mainly looking for something that is sensitive. Anyway thanks for your feedback.

I have a 6'10 e6x mag medium drop shot and love it, it would be my first choice over the crucial.. If warranty is any factor loomis still carries limited lifetime for the e6x while the crucial is a 1 year

Okay thanks for the feedback. I'll definitely look at one of a E6X then thank you.

Depends on what type of drop shotting you do. I have 2 spinning drop shot rods. One for shallower water and one for deeper water. For shallower water I use a Dobyns 6'9 ML drop shot rod paired with a Shimano Stradic 1000(white one). This rod is great for shallower situations and using lighter drop shot weights.

I fish Erie a ton so I am always fishing deeper/rougher water so this is where my other rod comes in handy- Shimano Crucial 7'2 MH Extra fast drop shot rod(new one-green and black) paired with a Shimano Sustain 2500. The Medium heavy allows for the power for deeper water and heavier weights you will use and with the XF action to still feel the bites. The balance of this rod paired with the sustain is unreal. These set up really work well for me.

To help, bring your reel you intend to use with it to the fishing store. Stick it on the rod to make sure you like the feel.

Good luck!
