Does anyone have experience with purchasing parts for reels from Shimano or any other brand?

My 2500 Stradic seems to be catching line on the bail. That's the only flaw I see with the design of this reel. The bail seems to be made of two parts and the connection between them isn't smooth enough and.. at least on mine, it seems to catch the line and affects my reeling or figthing of fish if i don't correct it and properly seat the line on the roller.
I figured it might just be that my reel has this problem and not others, as I have never read any bad things about the stradic.
I tried to sand down the part that catches, but it still isn't to my satisfaction. Should I order a new one and put it on to try. It's just connected by a couple screws, so it isn't a hard process.

Hard to say, have u checked the price on the part u need? You dont want to pay x # of $ on something you dont need and have the same problem. I would say call Shimano directly and explain the process and exact part thats malfunctioning and see what they say. They might know what wrong, or they may have had the problem before and send u a part free of charge to fix the problem. Shimano is a good name brand and should stand behind any product without a problem. It could be a possibility that this is a new problem they are unaware of too, in which case they might do somthing to compensate u for you problems.
Hope this helps.

There is a Reel repair place near LeBaron in Mississauga. I don't have the name and number but if you are interested, I can find out and let you know?

Y if Shimano wont help you that might be a good idea, at least they could tell you exactly whatswrong and what it will cost to repair, that way if its cheaper for them to repair itthe order the part u save some cash.
worth a shot.
