I am new to this fourm and im not to sure where and if we can post pictures.
Anyway Ive always fished from shore as I dont have a boat which I would love to have. All we catch from shore is junkie fish like Sheephead and Channel Cat.
I was out at my spot last sunday and though I had a bunch of weeds so I went to set the hook to see and bam I hooked this thing. We had no net so had to walk it around to the beach area and lift it out.

10 lb Sheephead!!!

I have never heard of this fish

I'm guessing you live in Northern Ontario?

This fish is common in the Great Lakes.
Lake Ontario, Lake Erie, etc... quite common to catch.

Makes sense, however my boat is currently too small to try out Great Lake fishing.

Yea what a fight it was, the smaller ones fight really hard so you can imagine this one lol.
I live in Windsor. Sheephead are quite common around here.
Nope never ate it, never had Sheephead but hear that they are not good to eat.

Wow, that is a brute! What was your method? A Sheaphead like that must of been a bulldog of a fight.

Thanks for sharing and welcome to the board.

Welcome to the forum, I am a shore fisherman as well, I know all about the wants, lol! Nice fishie, keep em coming!!

Nice fish, and it takes quite some skill to land these fish from so high up!

what a beauty. what sort of set up were you using?

I had to walk the fish over to the beach area and kinda drag it on the sand.
The best part is when we released it, took a little to get it going but it went.
