Simcoe is starting to get some ice forming in the back bays. Noticed a few had a skim on it this am. Hopefully it wont be long before Jack Frost sets in and lays down a couple of quick inches for us. Lets hope in the coming weeks its favourable ice making condition and the weatherman is wrong

Was enough to walk on and write the date with my boots

No we will have safe ice real soon. One outfitter i talked to is already guiding in the area on 4 inchs of ice for crappie and pickeral. He says it wont be long coming. Temps mid jan are frigid that are forecasted.

Hmm the forecast isnt looking the best. All temperatures below freezing but no major deepfreezes; a couple nights below -10 and that's it. The rest is minus 3 and minus 4 lows.

Cooks Bay will freeze and be fishable by Jan 18 or so. The main lake I have doubts if its going to be safe enough for walkers or machines in that matter. Smaller bodies of water north east of Simcoe could be ready earlier.

this guy giving us a update in cooks bay watch him everyday if you want a update
