Let me first start by saying that this will likely be my last full report for a little while as I have made a commitment to work on another site for the time being. I'll still be contributing to OFF, but likely not to the full extent I have in the past. I will by no means post the link to the new site in a public topic as I do not feel comfortable "promoting" another site on here, but if you happen to be interested in the work I'm doing, feel free to PM me, and I can pass along the site address.

To the topic!

Unfortunately in my area there are very few trout streams, the closest being a little over an hour away. So, when I try to get some fishing in after work to decompress, I will generally hit one of the many creeks or rivers that are within a 20 minute drive of my house. With today being an absolutely beautiful fall day, I decided I needed some decompressing, and after supper I headed to one of my favourite creeks.

I feel that I need to mention two things before continuing any further. The first being that I love catching any fish, no matter the size or species. A lot of people put the hate on creek chub or fallfish, however on a 3wt rod, I actually really enjoy catching them – generally present in dense populations, and if a decent size, a very fun little fight. The second point I need to make, as I`ve stated in one of my previous posts, is that I absolutely love Autumn. Start of the NHL season, NFL season, two Thanksgivings, and in my opinion, the greatest fishing season.

Now, on with the show.

With all of the colors seemingly accenting one another, the creek looked amazing. I set up my tripod on shore with my DSLR, and brought my GoPro with me in the water.

It was around 5:30pm when I first arrived, and I tied on a known favourite for the fish here, a Chernobyl ant. I quickly found myself into fish, and was having a blast with the dry fly.

Now, I haven`t had too much opportunity playing with the photo settings on the GoPro, so I will definitely work on that (some of the fish photos turned out a tad blurry), but this was one of many fish that were keen to the ant.

Around 6:15pm, the dry fly bite was seemingly switched off, so I tied on a brown micro-bugger, and gave the sub surface fishing a shot. Lo and behold, the bite was back on. I was catching a mix of chub, very small smallmouth bass, and some rock bass.

I really enjoyed using the GoPro as the fish never really had to leave the water, which was a nice added bonus. Once I figure out the proper settings, watch-out! :p

This lovely little creek did not disappoint, as I headed home thoroughly stress-free, with a beautiful drive home to boot.

As I hadn`t fished a small creek in a while, I truly needed this. It quickly reminded me how much fun a 3wt, and plenty of small but feisty fish can be.

Until next time, little creek!

Man, I don't know if there's a fly they haven't hit for me lol

I do get a lot of attention with the Chernobyl ant, so that would be my #1. They seem to love the dry flies.

ive only ever caught 1 chub on a spinner

Wow those pictures look amazing, always nice to get out. I got out tonight too, caught a couple smallies while trying out my new waders. Fishing is still kinda slow right now on the river right now, waiting for the fish to put on the feed bag before winter hits.

Can't wait until a little later in the fall! How'd the waders feel?

Ya same, it should start getting good in the next couple weeks or so. And the waders were flawless, don't regret spending the money to get the Simms. Sure beat the old crappy CT waders I had :D

This is what fishing should be. Awesome photos, you have quite the knack, for photography. You make me want to grab my fly rod and just head to a river.
