Hit one of the Lake O tribs today and the fish were on bite! landed 10 and lost 1, in 5 hours. Below is a screenshot from an action clip of fighting one

That was the nice part, best fishing day ever! The bitter part was fishing the same pool with three other guys that were together! one being a red neck that out of every three word that came out of his mouth two were "f...k"! Seriously, what is with these people?Does it make them cool? To each his own on that. I guess me overfishing all three of them pissed him off and he started swearing at his bait, the fish and even his girlfriend that he had to meet at noon (less fishing time!). One fish he laded had a lamprey mark on it so he smashed it on the ground and throw the half-dead fish into the water. After 3 hours he was landing his 4th fis and kept his third one! That was when I said "you know that is over your limit", he replied...F***! do you want us to throw you in water!! Well, only us there and nobody seeming to be around I did not say anything! half an hour later they packed and left. I kept fishing and landed another 5 after that but it did make the day bitter! Just did not know what to do, wish I had someone to back me and I would have chased him to his car, took his plate number, and off to MNR. What would you do in this situation?

That's a tricky one bro, I would have lost my sh it personally. I'm sure I swear a lot stream side too... I never really think of it as offending people, guess I should watch what I say!
As to what to do... Unfortunately anglers are more full of testosterone then a bull elephant. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone actually getting in a scrap on the river, but ive felt like throwing down on a number of occasions.
You're best bet? Keep to yourself, take a pic of there plates if need be. I'm going to start filming poachers with my camera and call the MNR, then put it on YouTube so our fellow anglers know to keep an eye out for certain individuals. luckily i have a pretty good crew who I can say enough to deter poachers, and know they'll have my back. one my buddy actually chased a pair of guys down the river in salmon season because they were snagging.

BUT!!!!

Like other people have said on this site, throwing down is like the worst thing you can do. The guy hits you, you hit him back, he drops and smashes his head off a rock. Pooched! Cops show up, they don't give a sh it he was poaching, and you go to jail! Wahoo!
I'd just try and keep my cool man, chill out, do your own thing, and hope the next time you go is more enjoyable!
I bring my iPod when i go by myself to tune out everything else!

OH SO THATS YOU!!!!! HEY MAN!!!! WE WERE DRUNK AND MESSNG AROUND!!!!!!!

Well, I am just joking, but that is pretty serious for them to say stuff like that to you, in fact, I'm sure they an be crminally charged for something like that. Look at it this way, you had a spectacular day today, screw those yahoo's. I love the feelng comng home after a spectacular day of fishing, feel so energized. If they ould only put that in a pill...

Always try to avoid troubled individuals on the river, because you never know who you are dealing with. If you have a camera film their antics, but don't make it obvious enough for them to come after you as mentioned already and get a picture of their plate if you can. Send it to the MNR and leave it at that. Confronting these types of individuals only gets you upset and serves no purpose because they never listen to reason. You cannot educate retarded individuals, as to what should happen on the river.

I'd love to have been there with you--let me know next time and I'll be happy to have your back

I dislike yahoos more than anything.

At least you had some great action G--good on ya!!

End of the day--like Float says, snap a pic of the license and you take the high road, stay locked in and be content to wallow in your dreams of more (and better) days on the water.

Hey getin,

I feel for you and definitely understand what that's like.

Congrats on the awesome day of steelheading though! Double digit steelhead days are heaven, amazing that it's only February.

You wouldn't believe what happened to me last year while fishing one of our local tributaries.

Before I even got to the water, as I was getting my gear set up, I noticed a small group trying to act tough, as though they owned the area. Some of them walked my way and gave me some pretty nasty glances. I by and large ignored them and made my way to the water.

About an hour later, while fishing, I noticed them again. They were making all kinds of commotion on the water. It was hard to tell whether they were there to fish or just to make noise and annoy other anglers. They eventually started making their way towards my direction, and I took off to fish another area of the creek.

Things got really heated as I finished up and made my way back to the parking lot. There they were again! They were surrounding my car. One of them was sitting right on my hood. I walked over to my trunk and just as I was about to open it up, I couldn't believe my eyes. One of them had crapped on my car!

I put my stuff away and managed to get in my car unscathed. They took off, but not before I was able to get a picture of them.

Here's the shot. If you ever see these guys, beware!

Had to slightly alter this joke so it would fit within the context of getin's post and fishing, glad it was worth a chuckle!

Almost peed myself brother...

I'm checking the background of your pic looking for these "guys"......LMAO

Whats terrible about your day Getin is that it sounds like this guy knew what he was doing landing four fish. I can expect that kind of behavior from a redneck non-fisherman but thats just complete garbage coming from a guy who must have spent some hours in his day on the river alongside other anglers. I probably would have done something stupid so I wont write about it online.

Yeah....DITTO....gets my blood up too. To think that these "gentlemen" might even be fathers. Enough to make you shiver....

LOL @ Salmo, that was a great story

As for the real d-bags you did the right thing ignoring it, I think someone mentioned it earlier , there's 3 options:

1) ignore and walk away
2) kick someones ass and go to jail
3) get jumped by 3 guys and go to the hospital

#1 seems like the intelligent bet

Funny you bring up fighting on the river. I have a close buddy who guides on the Skeena and Babine rivers. Over twenty years ago we came apon a snagger on Sring creek. My buddy has a temper and things got a little crazy. He smacked the guy around then darn near drown the guy in the river. I broke it up and the guy took off. Then I started to think anout where we were . We were in hillbilly country in Dorion Ontario. We hightailed it out of there pretty quick knowing that that dude was going to come back with his brothers and probably armed. Hell we never went back there with his truck ever again. Ruined a day of fishing and when my beater was broke down we had to fish elswhere. Better to just call the ministry.

Tight lines.

Hey Salmo, with a crowd like you are talking about, the nice thing is if you don't catch any fish, you don't necessarily have to go home empty handed!!
