Same place 2 days in a row with very similar conditions. 1st day by myself and it was a bit overcast but still blazing heat. Started for pike but realized trout were breaking the surface all around me so switched it up a bit and ... non freaking stop. I had a smoke in my mouth from 945 - 1030 and they just wouldn't give me a chance to light it. Never EVER had fishing like this before. In that 45 minute stretch I had 8 landed and another 4 or 5 come off.

Go back to the same spot the next day with my bro and got skunked.. there for twice as long too. I guess some days you just get the luck.

Tell me about it. Had non-stop action with pikes hitting everything i put on water. (line-up was suspending plug made by storm, williams wobblers, mepps #3 spinners, mepps black fury #3 & 5 diamond spoons). landed about 10 pike in 4 hours. This was in Bluffers park and only in 1 spot. Came back the next day with a friend and stayed for 6 hours with only 5 perch between the 2 of us.

fishing pressure, affects all fish even if your the only one catching em. would have waited a couple days before targetting those same fish

I don't think so much it was the fishing pressure, we tried many spots on the water we were fishing, I think the biggest contributor to the fish avoiding us was the lack of cloud cover in the sky..

Water got warmer faster and the fish went deeper and farther out than I could reach from shore.

Used trout bait for all catches.. though I got skunked on day 2 my bro pulled out the one and only fish. Rainbow which ate a fake crayfish about half his size.

so it goes...

see the same thing happen all the time. last month on a sunny day i was walking by on a lake O trib and 4 guys were catching big bow after big bow in about 45 minutes time. all using the same little pink worm and drifting it. but there was a 5th guy by himself using the exact same thing in the same area and he couldn't catch.

next day i put my boat on the water for the first time to troll for a bit. though it was around 6:30pm. when i arrived at that same spot, which is where it gets too shallow for boats, no one was there so i drifted the exact same setup as those guys and nothing. it was for half an hour.

Did you put the smoke in your mouth and not light it on the 2nd day as well?
