no, i love lakers, better then steelies for sure, but i try to get the smaller ones, you can actually compare those to specks! but the bigger ones are good too, i love ling, whities, lakers and smelt, those are the species i chase on the ice, thanks for all the nice comments everyone! and yes bowfin and ling are 2 different species, I've never tried a bowfin, but were told they taste like crap, lol, now ling on the other hand........

Where the heck and how do you ice fish smelt? Just super small jigs and a light at night?

small moro jigs, the lake i was telling you about has huge smelt, I've caught them on 8 pound line and a heavy action rod, time of day doesn't matter, i also fish them in barrie at the waterfront, go out 30 metres and they are there in huge clouds, tastily little guys, and easy to clean!

Caught one in lake bernard with a minnow and a hook lol they are pretty aggressive

fish the bottom of the lakes you know have ling, split shot setup, a few dead minnows right off bottom, just deadstick it early morning or in the evening and you are bound to get one.

Sign me up fur sure.
