I'm thinks about Saros SAR4000FA, $149.99. Is this good?
How about the line weight, mono or braid?
Since my rod is light power, and lure weight is from 1/32-1/4, can I use heavier spoon than 1/4?
Thks all.

i would not over power the rod if it says max 1/4 dont put more as for line your reel shpuld b able to take 30lb braid easy if you want mono use 15-20lb

HI, I am a beginner for salmon fishing, just bought Shimano Convergence Inshore Spinning Rod, light power, 10'6''.
I'd like to do some on shore fishing for salmon/steelhead.
I have 1 Daiwa crossfire 3000 spinning reel for bass, never caught lol.
I need some reel recommendation for salmon/steelhead, budget is within $200 bulks.
I plan to try my first salmon fishing this weekend, port credit or humber bay, where's better. I'm in Markham, prefer spot in 90km.
Pls. kindly pm me where's better, and "hot spot" maybe?

Thanks in advance.
Hi Markhamfisher, I am a bit new here, but I can second the suggestion for Shimano reels. You may not even have to pay $200. I use the Sedona 2500 with my noodle rod for float fishing and bouncing and it works just fine. If you used it without anyone telling you it was only $60, you would swear it was worth $100+ !!

Tried Port credit for 3hrs, nothing.
What time did u go

Too late now but I would look into the 3000 series reel and u can get a 2500 series spool on the same body. So you can use it for bass with the smaller spool and pier fishing with the larger spool. I know it works with the stradic series reels but not sure with the lower models.

Does this work the other way around if you have a 2500 reel?

i wouldnt think so unless the guide arm is spaced properly enough, some dont have enough clearence to fit the larger spool

The stradic Ci4 and the FJ have the same bodies on the 2500/3000 series. I have been doing this for a while now.
Not sure about the reels below this line. This was also confirmed on Tackle tour by a rep from shimano

I use the stradic FI this way also. For pier fishing I have a 3000 spool on the 2500 body which are the same bodies.

went to port credit again on Sunday at 03:00am, shoulder to shoulder.
04:30am, a police man came and asked all to leave and informed that park closed at 11:00pm and open at 07:00am.
Won't back again. It's an hr driver from my house Markham, and 2 trips there for nothing.
