Hit Bradford last night. Rigged up a new lcd Bobber..3rd cast, wrap it around an overhead branch : :) .. hoped I would be able to break off at the swivel, nope, wrapped too many times. :) Had to break it off and leave it Glowing in the tree~ :D

Used Mikey's slogan for the site...&(^%(#! OFF! ;.... packed up and went home.

Not a good night, but Sh*T happens.
Didnt see anyone catching tho...

:D I hate when that happens, especially when it happens right when you first arrive!

I was there last night as well disspatcher.
minnows outfished everything that night, it was unbelievable. I fished next to this old chinese guy using minnows, he would cast 1 foot away from where my float is, but his would go down instantly while mine was left alone. He caught 20 in an hour, i caught 2. This was 7:30-8:30 pm.

i was there last night aswell but where i was it was to croweded to get a decent cast off with out it getting caught in the tree branches above me. anyways i got skunked and so did my buddy maybe better luck next time

I think I may have run into that same older chinese guy years ago in Sutton. :)

I saw an old chinese guy smacking crappies on minnows right where the red X is on the map below. The funny thing is that is was summer time, not spring. I know because I was camping that weekend at Sibbald Point.

Battery power is so much easier on the eyes..far brighter..and lasts 7-8 hrs..2-3 glow sticks are not that much cheaper and you have to buy the bobber separate!
Try one they kick ass, unless they are illuminating a willow tree!

You don't get as (#*&%)(#*$ when you lose these cheaper stuff.

Definitely.
Blue Fox Firefly is the way to go for me. Not too expensive, small, bright... can't go wrong.

Problem with that area is... there is absolutely no parking anywhere near.
Maybe one should bring a bicycle and ride over there.
Due to no parking anywhere near,,, there is no crowd aswell

Hahaha, if you've noticed, and I'm sure most have... most of the crowded places for crappies are usually asian dominated.
That map you posted reminds me when I used to visit Beaverton years ago during the summer for crappie at the river mouth. I think those runs of crappie no longer exist though. You used to be able to catch them throughout the afternoon, there were so many you could see them in the water!

gonna share a little secret of mine with those complaining that led floats are ecpensive.
ok this is what float i use for crappies, i find that all floats that are for sale with led lights are not too sensitive so decided to make my own, and on last fishing trip i got asked at least 5 times what float is that.
no glue needed btw

where'd you get the tube from the gel pen? haha..
awesome idea!
though i'm still a fan of teh slip float.

i tried both methods, fixed and slip float and noticed that i get better bite with fixed float.
if you look at the lure in shallow water it moves different, with slip float its more like jigging in winter and dont look natural. i prefer fixed float,

osteo, I don't understand your picture.

Put LED in the tube? what led? where do you get the led from ? battery?
I am not understanding your drawing.
Sorry.
I lack imagination.

I think he slips one of those glowsticks the small mouths the kids put in there mouths at raves lol. Place one in the pen tube and I guess it's good to go for 5hrs. Float = $1.29 at BPS, pen tube = $0.99 and 2 mini glowsticks = $1
sounds good.

People, where do you buy those small glow sticks ?

Only small glow stick I've seen is from LeBarons... but it wasn't for float but for rod tip. (which i've used a bit during dark hours when i did some fall salmon spooning) Maybe those will fit on the float too.

The rod tip ones are too large, and can make the float top heavy. You can get them at bait shops. Sometimes walmart or canadian tire has time too.

Looks something like this, will fit inside the "gel pen tube"
