What in your opinion is the most exciting thing about fishing?
For me, it is when you see the fish inhale your lure. Nothing beats that. My jaw drops and I can feel the adrenaline kick in. Very exciting! The fish doesn't even have to be big... but it sure helps!
I've seen this with bass, pike and crappie so far. I'm not going to count sunfish and perch you see nibbling on your worm hahaha
top water action is always great as you see the fish's head completely out of the water with your lure in it's mouth!
This morning, I saw for the first time, a crappie attacking the $#!% out of my lure. For the kawartha opener, I ventured out early this morning (like 12 Am haha) and got into some serious crappie action! As the sun was coming up and warming the water.. it was chaos. There were lots of fish being landed everywhere, and they weren't shy as you can catch them 6 inches from your feet. The water is very clear so you can see your lure at first light. I'm twitching my tube slowly towards me, and all of a sudden out of nowhere, a crappie makes a very swift upwards lunge, showing off it's beautiful markings while having it's huge mouth open inhaling the tube. It was so quick that if you blinked, you would've missed it. As quickly as it came, it disappears, back into the depths. It pretty much set the hook itself with that kind of force! It was so swift, so efficient... awesome to see mother nature at work. I thought to myself... "wow... how do the prey have any chance when the predator attacks like that!"
It's just something you have to see for yourself. My description probably sucks.
