Went out to an East Trib/Pier last night - shoulder to shoulder people around 11pm (as I had suspected). Stayed till about 3am. I saw 3-4 hookups/losses, and only 2/3 fish caught. There were a few jumping around us as well. Water was like chocolate milk. I too hooked up using a orange glow cleo, but after fighting it for 15mins, I was at the mercy of an impatient boat wanting to pass by, so I rushed her and she spit the hook. That and I likely didn't have a good hook set. :(

So I am left with sore forearm and pride. What a good fight though, love it.

Totally not looking to steal your spot or anything.

The boat was trying to get out to the lake. Just so happen to be right at the moment I was hooked up to a huge fish. Sucks too, bc I had a horrible hookset as well. :(

fighting a salmon for 15 min would lead me to believe that the hook was set very well lol. Maybe your drag was too loose, all of the pier salmon ive landed/seen landed this year have been pulled out in less than 10 min.

Could be, I did give it a bit extra drag (not sure why). I know now to give it a bit less. Next time, I am going to let the boat wait.. and not rush it in. I am also swapping out all the trebles from my new 3/4 cleos' to a single long hook (any suggestions on which ones to use?). See how it goes.
