ahh ok, i just looked them up as well, the coho here don't turn red. but i see out west they have red sides and bellies with black/green back and heads. i think all male salmon get the dog mouth during the spawning run

this was the first time ever seeing them for my self. i had no clue what it was at first, then i couldnt believe it, the river was loaded with them. but they love the shallow waters, very hard to drift them with out spooking them..

hooked up a buddy of mine with his first ever chrome, last day of trout in a "secret" east trib ahah. Not big but lets just say he's hooked!
 
amazing pics on this page. Wish I had the same fish to show for it. I tried a branch off a major GTA trib, caught a nice chub, but thats it

And what r u trying to compare inland salmon to ocean salmon for, if you catch a red spawning salmon here in a lake ONTARIO trib, I will shut up and give u a any one of my favourite lures your choice
